A Menifee man faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm following an incident Wednesday night in Lake Elsinore, authorities said.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 31500 block of Canyon Estates Drive to the report that a subject had overdosed on unknown narcotics. Officers located a male lying on his back next to a red pickup truck. Cal Fire personnel responded and successfully performed life-saving measures, according to a news release.
James Steedly, 53, later told officers he took opioids, causing him to become incapacitated. Steedly was found to have an outstanding warrant for narcotics possession and was on summary probation with search terms.
A search of the suspect’s vehicle revealed a loaded .25 caliber pistol, narcotics, and narcotics paraphernalia. After being transported to a hospital for medical evaluation, Steedly was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.
Steedly, who is being held with bail set at $75,000, has a court date in Murrieta on Friday. If anyone has information about this case, contact Deputy Lequire at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station, 951-245-3300.
