Paloma Valley High school girls volleyball standout Shannon Dunkin leaves Sunday for Albany, New York, where she will compete on an athletic scholarship for Siena College.

Dunkin signed a national letter of intent Nov. 8, during the early signing period. She graduated early after the first semester of her senior year and will begin training with the Siena team right away, said her stepfather, David Poggi.

Dunkin played volleyball for three years at Paloma Valley. She was a member of the Wildcats team that went to the CIF finals the last two seasons. A middle blocker, she had 97 blocks last season. She also played several years at 951 Elite Volleyball and more recently for Viper Volleyball in Temecula.
