The County Coroner’s Office and Sheriff’s Department have identified a deceased adult male who was discovered in Menifee Lake this morning as a person who was reported missing in San Jacinto last week.
Edwin Alvarez-Soria, 21, of San Jacinto was discovered in the lake sometime this morning, according to the Coroner’s Report. The time of death is listed as unknown.
The Sheriff's Department was the investigating agency because the case originated in San Jacinto, where Alvarez-Soria was last seen at his residence on Feb. 18, according to a Sheriff's Department news release issued this evening and posted on the Menifee Police Department Facebook page. Alvarez-Soria was reported missing on Feb. 20.
On Tuesday, Sheriff's personnel moved the investigation to Menifee, where the man's car was discovered parked in the Menifee Lakes community, according to the news release. Some of the man's belongings were also discovered in that area, and a search was conducted throughout the day, but no additional evidence was found. The Menifee Police Department joined the search along with Sheriff’s Department search dogs, the department's Emergency Response Team, Aviation Team, Dive Team, and personnel from the San Jacinto Sheriff's Station.
When the search resumed today, members of the dive team located the body in Menifee Lake. No foul play is suspected.
No other details were released tonight.
