Police chase ends in arrest of felony parole violator

News release from the Menifee Police Department:

Saturday night around 10:30 p.m., officers were conducting extra patrols in the 27600 block of Encanto Drive. During the patrol, an officer observed a Dodge Ram truck driving erratically. The officer attempted to stop the truck, but the driver fled.

The officer pursued the truck until it became disabled after bottoming out on a dirt road. The driver fled from the truck on foot, but was quickly taken into custody. The driver was identified as 49-year-old LafeJay Waugh.

Waugh was found to have a felony parole violation warrant. The investigation also revealed the truck had been reported stolen. Waugh was arrested and booked into jail for the parole violation, evading, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
