Story updated with identity of the deceased and a GoFundMe site established for the family:
A Menifee man died Thursday night in a single-vehicle accident on the 215 Freeway in Murrieta, authorities said.
The 26-year-old man, identified by the Coroner as Enrique Guzman Flores, was driving south on the freeway at 4:55 p.m. at speeds over 100 mph, according to witnesses. He suddenly veered from the No. 1 lane across all lanes toward the off-ramp at Los Alamos Road, according to a CHP news release. The front end of the 2017 Subaru WRX struck a freeway guardrail and the vehicle collided with a tree on the freeway shoulder.
The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Street racing is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash.
