A fire that was reported at 2:06 a.m. today in the community of Nuevo is holding at 200 acres and is 10 percent contained, according to Cal Fire officials.

The Cerritos Fire, named for its point of origin near Tres Cerritos Avenue and the 23900 block of California Avenue, prompted an evacuation order for some areas of west Hemet. That order has now been changed to an evacuation warning for residents that live on California Avenue North of Tres Cerritos Avenue.

If needed, a temporary evacuation point has been established at Tahquitz High School, 4425 Titan Trail in Hemet. Large and small animal evacuations can be taken to San Jacinto Valley Animal Shelter, 581 S. Grand Avenue in San Jacinto.
