Paloma Valley High School alumnus Matt Orzech is back on an active NFL roster -- this time with the Tennessee Titans.
Orzech, a 2013 graduate of Paloma Valley who later played at Azusa Pacific University, was signed off the Miami Dolphins' practice squad on Thursday. A long snapper, Orzech was signed two days after the Titans (5-2) cut veteran long snapper Beau Brinkley following their second consecutive loss.
Before he officially joins the Titans' active roster, he must go through six days of COVID-19 testing, according to USA Today. Therefore, he won't be available for the team's game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
Orzech was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 but was waived before the start of the season. He was claimed off waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars, with whom he spent the entire 2019 season. The Dolphins signed him to their practice squad in September.
Orzech joined the Paloma Valley varsity football team as a sophomore, then missed his junior year because of an injury. He returned in his senior year, playing tight end and defensive lineman in addition to serving as the team's long snapper. The Wildcats posted a 9-4 record that season, advancing to the third round of the CIF playoffs.
