Man arrested after report of shots fired at Canyon Lake bar

Cody Hill, 39, is being held at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta with bail set at $1 million. He has a Nov. 24 court date to answer charges of assault with a deadly weapon; discharging a firearm in a negligent manner; and attempted murder.
Sheriff’s deputies responded at 1:20 p.m. to the report of a shooting at a bar in the 31000 block of Railroad Canyon Road, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release. The suspect had already fled the scene. An employee at an adjacent business said he was told by a deputy on scene that the suspect fired several shots, but no one was struck.
Hill was identified as the suspect and deputies responded to Hill’s residence in the 34000 block of Jennifer Drive in Wildomar. Hill was located and arrested without incident.
A search warrant was served at the residence in an effort to locate the firearm used in the incident. Deputies located five shotguns, four handguns, a California non-compliant rifle, 11 additional rifles, and over 2,500 live rounds of ammunition.
During the search warrant service, deputies detained Paola Jimenez, 38, another resident at the location. She was arrested for being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. Jimenez was released today, pending a March 31, 2021 court date.
No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting.
