VFW Post 1956 representatives Mike Cano (Post Commander) and VFW member Earl Phillips donated approximately $150 of food and other items to the Menifee Valley Community Cupboard on Thursday to assist in providing the food bank with items needed by the community’s stressed residents due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Post is planning on a similar donation in November, and just prior to Thanksgiving is also planning to provide turkeys to the city’s charitable organizations for Thanksgiving meals.

The Post’s annual turkey giveaway, ongoing for over five years, has been hampered by the cancellation of the participation of the Morongo Band due to COVID-19. The Post will continue its tradition by purchasing turkeys and carrying out the event.

Donations to help support the VFW Post 1956’s community projects can be made at any time at www.vfw1956.com.
