It is said about successful leaders that their record speaks for itself. That is certainly the case with Lesa Sobek, candidate for re-election to the Menifee City Council.
Through her service on the Menifee Planning Commission, her first term on City Council and her involvement in many city activities, Sobek has proven herself to be a caring, dedicated and professional public servant.
“I have worked tirelessly to maintain the quality of life for Menifee residents,” said Sobek, who represents District 3 on the City Council. “My continued work demonstrates the leadership and trust of the people.”
Sobek has played a major role in the following city accomplishments:
-- Improved CALFIRE response times and critical fire services, adding the much-needed fourth firefighter to each truck and a paramedic patrol to station 7.
-- The formation of the city’s own Municipal Police Department.
-- Improvement of safe routes to schools, with the addition of traffic signals, sidewalks and road improvements.
-- Implementation of the new Scott Road Interchange, which is fully funded and was completed ahead of schedule.
In addition, Sobek:
-- Advocated for streamlined business and development processing by creating a Zero Stop Shop in City Hall, which has led to the arrival of over 100 new businesses in Menifee and over 150 active projects in the city to improve the quality of life for residents.
-- Founded the Military Banner Program.
-- Championed the Homeless Task Force and developed the first Homeless Strategic Plan.
-- Supported the city’s first Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy to grow revenue and increase job creation locally.
-- Shared responsibility for the city’s first Community Development Guidelines and Development Code, which will shape the city’s look, feel and future job industry.
-- Contributed to enhanced community programming, events, and activities for Menifee residents.
-- Founded Menifee Better Together, with over 600 volunteers annually.
-- Is a champion for victims of domestic violence and is a key supporter for the ADV Shelter.
-- Was instrumental in the implementation of the first Inclusive playground to one of our city parks and added more sports fields.
Sobek’s many endorsements include one from Senator Melissa Melendez.
“Lesa is a proven leader with strong family values,” Melendez said. “Her honesty, integrity and character are what Menifee needs to keep moving in the right direction.”
“I love being part of the process that embraces core values and quality of life decisions for our residents,” Sobek said. “I hope my report card gives you a glimpse about my strong leadership values.”
