The official Grand Opening is a few weeks away, but many already are enjoying the comfort of the Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel by Marriott in Menifee.
While residents continue to wait for construction to resume on the Krikorian Theater complex and other businesses in Menifee Town Center, completion of the Marriott hotel is being welcomed as a significant addition to the community. In addition to providing 99 hotel rooms, a fitness center and swimming pool, the Fairfield Inn & Suites has the city’s first real conference center – a 4,000-square-foot space that will accommodate more than 375 people and is suitable for banquets, wedding receptions and civic functions.
“I’ve spent time going around the community, but I’ve also visited hotels in Temecula and met their general managers,” said general manager George Flores, who has been at the Menifee site since mid-May. “They’re so jealous. They say, ‘You’re from the new hotel in Menifee? You’re the one with the 4,000-square-foot banquet space!’ They’re really jealous of that.”
In addition to providing the most modern and one of the largest banquet rooms in Menifee, the hotel will be part of the hub of the Menifee Town Center, envisioned as the city’s centrally localized entertainment and civic center at the Newport Road site. Construction on the Krikorian Theater complex and adjacent retail space is expected to resume next year, and plans call for a permanent City Hall to be built just south of the hotel.
The 4,000-square-foot conference area has a partition to separate the space into small sections. |
Flores said the hotel had 29 rooms occupied by the end of the first week, with 33 additional rooms booked by a large military group for the next two weeks.
“It’s been a very decent opening,” added Flores, who said the hotel already has received several reservations from local families who have relatives coming to town. “We might be at full capacity in about two weeks.”
The hotel includes 30 rooms on each of the top three floors, with nine additional rooms on the first floor. That floor also includes a small banquet space where a breakfast buffet will be served when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
In addition to the traditional guest rooms, King and Queen Suites offer King and Queen-size beds with extra space and a sofa bed.
Flores said Marriott employees take special care in the planning of each new “generation” of Marriott hotels. This is generation 4.5 of the Fairfield Inn & Suites model, he said.
“Marriott brings together brand teams of 8-15 people who meet with travelers to see what they want in a room,” Flores explained. “Then they put together an actual room. They bring back the travelers and ask, ‘Is this what you’re looking for?’ After getting feedback, they change this, modify that, and after that, Mr. Marriott comes and looks at the room. At that meeting, they invite the contractors as well. They give their input and it all comes together
“That is when it becomes the new generation of Fairfield Inn. They start with the guest in mind.”
