Menifee residents helped recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month by donating gift cards, toiletries and cash on Saturday to assist victims of domestic violence.
The event, held at Kay Ceniceros Senior Center in Menifee, was a drive-thru event staffed by local city officials, law enforcement and local businesses and groups including Waste Management, Southern California Gas Company, Coldwell Banker, Interfaith and Community Service Council, and Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds benefited the Riverside County Coalition for Alternatives to Domestic Violence.
Candy was passed out to kids in Halloween costume. In addition, a K9 unit from the Menifee Police Department attended.
Donations will be accepted through the end of the month at the Menifee Police Department, 29714 Haun Road.
Volunteers included Gloria Sanchez (far left) and City Council member Lesa Sobek (second from right).
Menifee firefighters and police officers greeted guests and accepted donations.
Volunteers and a Menifee Police K9 unit spent their Saturday working for a good cause at Kay Ceniceros Center.
