Transient faces felony charges after Menifee home burglary

A 32-year-old transient faces three felony charges after being caught by police in the midst of a residential burglary in Menifee on Tuesday, authorities said.

Menifee Police officers responded at 9:30 a.m. to the report of a burglary in progress in the 27600 block of Sun City Boulevard, according to a Menifee PD news release. Observing signs of entry, officers searched the interior and located the suspect, identified as Korey Wagoner.

Investigation revealed that Wagoner was a suspect in a recent commercial burglary and another residential burglary. He also was found in possession of methamphetamine.

Wagoner was booked at the Southwest Detention Center on felony charges of first degree burglary, receiving unknown property, and vandalism, as well as a misdemeanor charge of possessing a controlled substance. He has a court date in Murrieta on Thursday, according to jail records.

Wagoner has a previous Menifee address but was recently homeless, said Menifee PD Captain David Gutierrez.
