Design services have been contracted for three additional traffic signal projects in Menifee, with two previous projects moving closer to completion.
The Menifee City Council this week approved design contracts for traffic signals at the following locations:
-- Menifee Road and La Piedra Road
-- Murrieta Road and Sun City Boulevard
-- Murrieta Road and Rouse Road
The agreement with STC Traffic, Inc. for the signal project at Menifee Road and La Piedra Road is not to exceed $32,650 for design services, according to city documents. During times when COVID-19 isn’t limiting crowds, that intersection is busy with traffic from Bell Mountain Middle School and Wheatfield Park. In addition, a public library is being built on the northwest corner.
The second agreement with STC Traffic is for a signal project at Murrieta Road and Rouse Road, not to exceed $31,150 for design services. The is no stop sign for Murrieta Road traffic at that intersection, which is bordered on the northeast corner by the Menifee Valley Cemetery and Miller-Jones Mortuary.
Through an agreement not to exceed $65.780, Rick Engineering will provide design services for traffic signals at the intersection of Murrieta Road and Sun City Boulevard, which currently is a four-way stop.
Meanwhile, two previously designed and prepared intersections await the final phase of their projects – one at Menifee Road and Holland Road and the other at Menifee Road and Camino Cristal.
Those projects are expected to be completed in October or November, said Dominique Samario, City of Menifee public information officer. All necessary materials are on hand, and city officials are waiting for Southern California Edison to supply power to the sites.
