A Menifee man died Friday when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Ortega Highway west of Lake Elsinore, authorities said.
Marcos Murrieta, 36, was riding his 2014 Kawasaki at about 6:30 p.m. on Highway 74 west of El Cariso Village, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. He was traveling westbound on a curve at a high rate of speed, lost control of the motorcycle and moved across the double yellow line of the two-lane highway.
Murrieta's motorcycle collided with the front of a 2010 Toyota Prius traveling eastbound and he was ejected. He landed on the south dirt shoulder of the highway.
Murrieta was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP is conducting a traffic collision investigation.
The driver of the Prius was not injured.
