The Menifee Union School District governing board is scheduled to make a decision at its meeting on Tuesday about the learning model(s) that will be available to students this school year.
After hearing an updated presentation on the options – which include traditional classroom learning, full-time distance learning and a hybrid learning model – board members will discuss the issue and approve one or more of the options for students when school begins Aug. 12. The Perris Union High School District board last week approved a distance learning model for all students. Romoland School District has not yet announced its decision.
The debate over learning models has been prolonged by the uncertain status of allowed public gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the number of cases again rising and concerns over how to maintain social distancing on campus, some districts have already chosen a distance-only learning model. Others are still collecting and analyzing data.
Below is a news release from MUSD about Tuesday’s meeting, which will be held virtually and begin at 4 p.m. A link to view the meeting online will be provided the day of the meeting:

-- The Classified and Certificated Bargaining Teams: Will continue to meet to examine implications of these programs as they relate to Collective Bargaining Agreements.
The committees will report their findings to the Governing Board for their consideration prior to the final selection of an instructional model(s) for the 2020/21 school year.
