Menifee's increase in COVID-19 cases is biggest one yet

As increases in confirmed cases of COVID-19 throughout the state are being reported in record numbers, Menifee has experienced its biggest one-day increase, according to statistics reported by health officials.

Today's report by the Riverside County Health Department shows a total of 306 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Menifee since numbers were first reported in March. That's an increase of 33 since Friday, the last day statistics were updated. Monday numbers are usually larger than other days because no updates are given over the weekend. Even so, Menifee's increase of 33 is believed to be more than twice as much as any previous report.

Here are the latest COVID-19 numbers reported by the Riverside County Health Department today:

Total individuals tested: 222,796 (increase of 13,240)

Total confirmed cases: 16,634 (increase of 991)

Total deaths: 440 (increase of 2)

Confirmed cases in Menifee: 306 (increase of 33)

Deaths in Menifee: 6 (no change)

Hospitalized: 365 (increase of 47)

Number in ICU: 106 (increase of 1)

Number recovered: 7,667 (increase of 284)
