Menifee man sought for murder in May 20 incident

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Menifee man accused of murdering another Menifee man in a May 20 incident on Highway 74, authorities announced today.

Richard Adam Lopez, 32, was identified following an investigation as a suspect in the death of 60-year-old Jose Gonzalez, who was found by Sheriff's deputies suffering from a head injury in the 27000 block of E. Highway 74 May 20 at 8:28 p.m. Gonzalez remained in intensive care at a local hospital until Monday, when he was pronounced dead.

The public is encouraged to call 911 if they have information about Lopez's whereabouts, according to a Sheriff's Department news release The public is urged not to attempt to contact Lopez personally.
