An additional community testing site will open Tuesday at the Perris Fairgrounds for those who want to be tested for COVID-19, according to a Riverside County Health Department news release.
Those wishing to be tested must have symptoms of coronavirus and must have an appointment before showing up at the testing site, located at 18700 Lake Perris Drive. Some of the symptoms include fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose or congestion, according to the news release. Those who have been exposed to a confirmed case may also be tested.
The number to call to make an appointment is 800-945-6171.
“As this pandemic progresses, knowledge is power. The more testing and data we have, the quicker we can get control of this virus and get back to business,” said Supervisor Jeff Hewitt, Fifth District Supervisor. “This gives us a crucial mid-county location, and I am very happy to see it open up.”
Other county testing sites previously opened in Riverside County are the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio (Tuesday through Saturday), The Diamond Stadium in Lake Elsinore (Sunday through Thursday) and the parking lot of Harvest Christian Fellowship Church in Riverside (Tuesday through Saturday).
More than 18,000 patients have been tested at those three locations, according to the news release. This number does not include the tests coordinated by private physicians and labs in the county.
Those who want to be tested can call 800-945-6171 and specify which location is preferable. Appointments for the Lake Elsinore site can also be made online by going to www.projectbaseline.com/study/covid-19.
