Schools in Menifee will be closed beginning Monday for about a month because of concerns over the coronavirus, district and school officials said today.
The first announcement came from the Perris Union High School District, which governs Paloma Valley and Heritage high schools. In a statement posted on the district website here and on social media, PUHSD announced that schools would be closed through spring break. Classes are expected to resume on April 13. Plans are underway to offer "distance learning opportunities", according to the statement.
In a similar announcement, Menifee Union School District posted this statement on its website, saying classes are expected to resume after spring break on April 14 and that "optional enrichment resources" would be available on the website to "maintain student engagement and connection to learning."
Romoland School District announced on its website here that its schools also will be closed through the end of spring break, which is April 10. The statement said that "plans are in place for students to continue to learn", adding that details would be sent to families.
In the following statement, Santa Rosa Academy announced that the school would be closed until at least April 13.
By late this afternoon, Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser had ordered all schools in Riverside County to close.
