Paloma Valley was seeded fourth in Division III and will be at home Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Lincoln High of San Diego in the first round of the CIF State girls basketball playoffs.
The Wildcats are 30-3 heading into the state tournament after defeating Ontario Christian 64-47 Saturday in the CIF Southern Section Division 4AA championship game. Junior guard Mya Pierfax led the way with 37 points, and a tough defense held Ontario Christian scoring leader Choe Briggs to 24 points – 15 points under her season average.
Lincoln has a 23-7 overall record. The Hornets defeated Otay Ranch of Chula Vista in the San Diego Section Division II championship game, 49-44.
The winner of Tuesday night’s game will advance to the second round of the tournament Thursday against the winner of a game between Mission Prep of San Luis Obispo and Legacy High of South Gate.
