Local resident Rhoads to compete in national quilting show

A Menifee resident has been accepted as a contestant in a quilting competition sponsored by the largest quilting membership organization in the world.

American Quilter's Society announced that Rose Rhoads, a local resident and member of the Sun City Quilt Club, will compete with her quilt, Here Kitty Kitty (left), at AQS QuiltWeek in April in Paducah, Kentucky.

The show will feature over 400 quilts from around the world, according to a press release. Contestants compete for $121,250 in cash awards.

Hundreds of special exhibit quilts will be on display at the show. Admission to AQS QuiltWeek can be purchased at the Schroeder Expo Center and includes access to all special exhibitions and the Merchant Mall. Hours are Wednesday, April 22 through Friday, April 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
