Continuing a trend seen among schools across the country during the “stay at home” order due to COVID-19, teachers at Freedom Crest Elementary School waved to their students as they drove vehicles in a parade through neighboring streets on Friday.
Teachers at Mesa View Elementary School did the same on Friday, bringing smiles to the faces of children holding signs to greet them.
"This was such an emotional day! I will never forget this day,” said Freedom Crest teacher Star Root. “Seeing my wonderful FCE Family was the best! Loved seeing us all come together.”
Matt Clark, a second grade teacher at Freedom Crest, said, "That was really one of the coolest things I've done and seen in 20 years of teaching. The kids were lining the streets with signs for us. So fun! We were 30 cars strong.”
A sampling of comments from parents, courtesy of organizers of the event:
“This was so great! My child was so excited and of course I cried!”
“It was very emotional! We will never forget this day!”
“Thank you and all the teachers for lifting everybody's spirits. We appreciate you! You made things a little brighter today!”
“We have the best teachers ever!!! Teacher parade was the highlight of our week!”
