Members of the boys and girls wrestling teams from Paloma Valley High School continued their postseason success Saturday, with several individuals advancing to the next tournament.
Five members of the boys team placed at the CIF-SS Eastern Division Individual Meet at Carter High School and four qualified for the Masters Meet next weekend at Sonora High School. That is just one step before the CIF State meet. Paloma Valley finished in fourth place as a team out of 48 schools -- the program's best finish ever in this meet.
Roman Carrillo and Cameron Owen each placed second in their weight class. Elijah Benavidez placed fourth, becoming the first freshman in school history to place at the CIF finals. Conor Peterson placed fifth and Tyler Riggs finished seventh in their weight classes.
Meanwhile in the CIF Eastern Regionals girls wrestling meet at Hillcrest High, Paloma Valley had an amazing showing, qualifying 12 wrestlers for the CIF-SS Finals next weekend at Beaumont High School. That's the most the program has ever had.
The qualifiers for the Wildcats girls team are:
Jayden Von Moos
