Three local high school teams advanced to the second round of the CIF playoffs with victories on Thursday.
The Paloma Valley High School girls basketball team had an easy time with Schurr, scoring a 72-36 victory in a Division 4AA first-round game at home. The Wildcats, who are now 26-3 overall, will play a 3 p.m. game at Citrus Valley High in Redlands on Saturday.
In girls soccer, Nicole Dallin scored both goals and freshman goalkeeper Cassandra Cortez posted a shutout as Paloma Valley beat Roosevelt 2-0 in a home game. The Wildcats will play host to Woodbridge at 5 p.m. Saturday in a Division 2 game.
The other local winner was the Santa Rosa Academy girls soccer team, which beat Pomona Catholic 2-1 in a Division 6 playoff opener. The Rangers will play at Arroyo Valley Saturday at 5 p.m.
