Menifee man charged with murder of victim in Moreno Valley

A Menifee man was booked on a murder charge regarding the shooting death of a male victim in Moreno Valley on Saturday, police said.

Darren Peter Zesk, 18, is being held at Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta with bail set at $2 million, according to jail records. He faces two felony charges, including second degree murder. His court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday in Riverside.

Sheriff's deputies responded at 2:08 a.m. Saturday to the report of assault with a deadly weapon in the 16500 block of Century Street in Moreno Valley, according to a news release. They found a male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 18-year-old Massai Cole of Inglewood, was given life-saving measures on scene but died from his injuries.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Zesk on Sunday.
