The man charged with first-degree murder in the death of a Menifee resident entered a not guilty plea today and has been scheduled for a felony settlement conference on Feb. 7, according to court records.

Othelon Lyons, 30, of Bakersfield is accused in the shooting death of Claudell Walter, who was gunned down in front of his home on Light Sails Court in Menifee on the night of June 1, 2019. Lyons was charged with the crime Dec. 27 and was transferred to the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta from Delano State Prison, where he was serving time for another crime. He is being held without bail.
