Paloma girls soccer team ranked 8th, unbeaten in league

The Paloma Valley High School girls soccer team remained undefeated in league play with a 1-0 win over Valley View on Friday. The Wildcats take a 10-2-3 overall record (5-0 in league) into Wednesday's 5 p.m. home game against Arlington.

Raquel Martinez scored the game's only goal in the second half Friday off an assist from Julia Stelzer. Freshman goalkeeper Cassandra Cortez recorded the shutout for Paloma Valley, which has not allowed a goal in league play.

In an 8-0 win over Temescal Canyon on Jan. 22, seniors Nicole Dallin and Graci Raymond scored three goals each. Dallin leads the team with 31 goals scored. Dallin previously signed a letter of intent to play soccer at the University of Arizona next season.

The Wildcats moved up to CIF Division 2 this year and are ranked eighth this week. The Wildcats' head coach is Carlos Alfaro.
