Man arrested for DUI after crash at Newport, Menifee Roads

A Lakeside man was arrested and booked for DUI after his car flipped at the intersection of Newport Road and Menifee Road early New Year's Day, authorities said.

Sheriff's deputies responded at 3:31 a.m. Wednesday to the report of a single-vehicle traffic collision. They arrived to discover a 2004 Ford Mustang resting on its roof. The investigation indicated that the Mustang was traveling westbound on Newport Road when it struck the curb and rolled over.

The driver walked away from the crash but was located inside a nearby store. Samuel Casson, 23, was taken to a local hospital to be checked before being transported to Southwest Detention Center.
