This school year, Menifee 24/7 will honor deserving athletes in all varsity sports in season as Athletes of the Month. Each head coach is asked to select one athlete each month for this honor.

Here are the October Athletes of the Month from Heritage High School:

Mia Carrillo, girls golf: Mia finished the golf season as the Sunbelt League MVP by shooting a league-low 187 over the course of the 36-hole, two-day tournament. She also claimed a share of the conference championship by posting the low score of 92 for the entire Raincross Conference on the final day at Legends Golf Club on Oct. 24. Mia is the first Heritage golfer to earn the MVP honors.

"Mia has put in and continues to put in a lot of work to be where she's at," said coach Scott Montgomery. "She is a very talented golfer and I look forward to watching her continue to develop her skills over the next couple years."

Hannah Ortega, girls tennis: Hannah was named league MVP in singles and is a scholar athlete.

Jameson Sanders, girls volleyball: The sophomore outside hitter had 102 kills, 163 digs and a .344 hitting percentage for the Patriots in league play.

Jayde Shelton, girls volleyball:
The Wildcats senior Captain has 236 kills this season with 89 blocks. She holds four school records.
