The Elizabeth Hospice veteran volunteers and veterans from Menifee VFW Post 1956 presented certificates of appreciation and an American flag lapel pin to 48 veterans that served during WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War and peacetime during a recent ceremony at Sun City Gardens.

Throughout the year, The Elizabeth Hospice recognizes and thanks veterans for their military service. The most important part of the ceremony is the time spent with the veteran reminiscing about their time in the service.

"It is important to recognize the contributions of our veterans every day, not just once a year, and let them know their service to our nation is appreciated and not forgotten," said Jan Jones, CEO of The Elizabeth Hospice.

“Serving veterans is an honor for senior living providers. Some of our aging veterans are unable to leave the senior living facility to attend Veterans Day ceremonies in their community due to declining health. Therefore, we bring the ceremony to them. Veterans in the community and active duty military visit the residents, giving them an opportunity to reminisce and reflect on their time in the Armed Forces.”

The Elizabeth Hospice is a "Level 5 Partner," the highest distinction possible, with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veteran Affairs in the national We Honor Veterans program.

The Elizabeth Hospice, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit healthcare leader, has been providing comfort and counsel to children and adults faced with the challenges associated with a life-threatening illness, and restoring hope to grieving children and adults who are feeling lost and alone.
