The new northbound freeway on-ramp and southbound off-ramp at Scott Road will open to motorists Tuesday morning -- earlier than previously announced, according to a City of Menifee news release.
The first phase of the freeway interchange project to open will provide motorists with wider, longer on- and off-ramps. The opening was initially announced as being on or before Sept. 23, so crews appear to be ahead of schedule. The entire project isn't scheduled to be complete until next summer.
To prepare for Tuesday's ramp openings, crews must close existing on-and off-ramps and one lane of the freeway from approximately 8 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Tuesday. Scott Road from Antelope Road to Haun Road will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Once the new ramps open, the existing northbound on-ramp and southbound off-ramp will be permanently closed.
According to the news release, "Nighttime closures are necessary for crews to modify freeway striping and to add new striping to the new northbound on-ramp and southbound off-ramp to open them for vehicles on Tuesday morning. Crews will also work on new signals at Scott Road, necessary for the new ramp alignments. Please use caution and reduce speed in the construction area while traveling on these new ramps."
Menifee 24/7 published an update on the entire project Sept. 2. You can read that here.
The new southbound off-ramp will connect with Scott Road just west of the old off-ramp. |
