Grading and trenching is well underway for the new water treatment plant being constructed at the Eastern Municipal Water District desalination facility on Murrieta Road in Menifee.
The Perris II Reverse Osmosis Treatment Facility is being built on an open field north of the current EMWD plant, near Salt Creek. According to EMWD officials, the plant will significantly increase the amount of drinkable water for the area.
EMWD and regional officials celebrated groundbreaking of the event in March, but work has been more visible recently with a crane and other construction vehicles on site. A Menifee 24/7 article on March 28 described the importance of the project as an additional water source for residents.
