Arts Council Menifee hosted its 8th annual "Menifee's Got Talent" event on Friday and filled the 500-seat theater at Hans Christensen Middle School.
The event showcased more than 25 local performers, featuring dance groups and singers of all styles, including opera, folk, contemporary and even a rapper.
Dr. Jonathan Greenberg, retired Superintendent of Perris Union High School District, served as emcee, and sound engineering was provided by Joseph Olivarez, the middle school's music instructor.
"It's a joy to see so many gifted performers, many of them taking the stage for the first time," said Mayor Bill Zimmerman. He added praise for the Arts Council for continuing the annual event, which debuted in 2012 at the Kay Ceniceros Community Center to about 40 guests.
"Colleen Ackerman does an excellent job producing the event, and she is supported by a hard-working team of volunteers that make the talent show successful each year," Zimmerman said.
