Henry Proger went 3 for 3 at the plate with 3 RBIs as the Paloma Valley High School baseball team scored a 10-3 win over Katella in the first round of the CIF Division 3 playoffs Thursday afternoon.
Wyatt Bush, Daniel Montgomery and Owen Prendergast each had two hits for the Wildcats, who are19-8 overall. Cade Swenson allowed just 2 runs on 2 hits in 5 innings on the mound. Paloma Valley will play Yorba Linda in the second round on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, the Heritage High softball team scored nine runs in the fifth inning to blow the game open and win their first-round game at AB Miller in Fontana, 12-1.
Junior pitcher Amy Perrault allowed no hits and just one unearned run in the game, which lasted just five innings. She also went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs for Heritage, which is now 16-8 overall and will play against Godinez Fundamental of Santa Ana in the second round on Tuesday.
