Southern California residents are enjoying a spacious and attractive entertainment and resort venue at the new Soboba Casino Resort in San Jacinto.

The resort’s new casino is much larger than the previous Soboba Casino, which was located in a tent structure about a quarter-mile down the road. The gaming area, featuring 2,000 slot machines and 32 gaming tables, is surrounded by lounge areas and a variety of food service options. Adjacent to the casino is a 200-room hotel and a revamped 18-hole golf course, giving gaming enthusiasts a great new option in the Inland Empire.

The resort opened to the public in February and has had two soft opening celebrations for tribal members and local dignitaries. A Grand Opening is scheduled for June. Meanwhile, guests are already finding the comforts and pleasures of the resort.

Hotel suites range in size and amenities to suit guests of all tastes.

The hotel includes rooms ranging from the 455-square-foot deluxe rooms to Presidential Suites of 1,800 square feet, including a living area with pool table and amazing views. The six-story hotel overlooks the newly renovated Soboba Springs Golf Course and an 8,000-square-foot swimming pool on the north side of the property and offers scenic mountain views to the south.

In addition, the spacious Event Center provides conference rooms and space that can be rented out for outside activities, just steps from the hotel elevators and casino. Guests already are raving about the comfort of the new casino, with its extra space and air conditioning and filtration system that pumps fresh air to dissipate cigarette smoke.

“This casino was designed in such a manner as to funnel people through the gaming floor from whichever entrance they choose,” said Joe Whitman, director of slots. “Many casinos have large banks of machines, but we opted for a smaller bank design to provide lots of room and make it more player friendly.”

The resort's 8,000-square-foot swimming pool is an inviting sight for guests.

The restaurant includes several bars, sit-down restaurants and a food court surrounding the gaming area. In the middle of the casino is a bar highlighted by a large tree illuminated by lights that change color. The tradition of the original Soboba Casino is evident in the iconic sign that was moved from the former casino site to the new resort front.

“It’s a big part of our history and it means a lot to our tribe, our customers and our employees,” said Soboba Casino Resort’s Assistant General Manager, Jason Cozart, about the sign.

The golf course, purchased by the Soboba Country Club in 2004, now includes more than 7,300 yards of playing area and includes the 425-yard, par 4 hole 13, which challenges golfers to reach a green surrounded by water.

The course also includes the fourth longest Par 5 on the PGA Tour, the 641-yard Hole 15.

"Both of these new design elements add a unique level of excitement," said golf course architect Cary Bickler. "Of the four (redesigned) holes, there are two very demanding Par 3s from the Tour Tees at Hole 14 (206 yards) and at Hole 16 (235 yards). Holes 3 through 16 will be a strong test in the golfer's finishing portion of the round and will most likely determine the winner in competition."

Rooms in the resort's 200-room, six-story hotel provide a relaxing retreat between trips to the casino and golf course.

Renovations have greatly enhanced the look and challenge of the 7,300-yard Soboba Springs Golf Course.
