The motorcyclist who died when thrown from his bike and struck by another vehicle on the 215 Freeway Saturday has been identified.
The Coroner's Office reported that Richard Rios, 34, of Escondido died in the collision, which occurred at 4:28 a.m. on the northbound 215 just south of Scott Road, according to the CHP. Rios was riding in the No. 2 lane when he lost control for unknown reasons and was thrown into the No. 1 lane. He was in a partially standing position in that lane when struck by a Volkswagen Passat driven by a 21-year-old female from Temecula.
Rios was wearing his safety helmet. The investigation is ongoing.
All freeway lanes were blocked for a short time while the accident scene was cleared, witnesses said. No other information is available.
