For the past nine years, Jonathan Nolan of JPN Insurance Services has sponsored the annual Chair Volleyball Senior Games at the Sun City Civic Center in the Sun City Core community of Menifee. This year's event was special as usual, with many veterans honored.
This year, 19 teams consisting of 219 athletes competed in the games, where nine trophies and 90 individual medals were awarded. Before the games began, Hospice of the Valleys Veteran volunteer and board member Anthony Christopher, along with cadets from the Paloma Valley High School NJROTC, recognized over 20 veteran athletes, with the oldest being 88 years young.
"It’s a wonderful opportunity to get our seniors out of the home, make new friends, and stimulate their minds and bodies," said Nolan.
Nolan encourages anyone who is 55 and older to get involved, whether just for fun or to compete annually in the games. If you are interested in participating in the Chair Volleyball Senior Games, contact Debbie Harper at 951-660-5106.
