Three Menifee students to compete in County Spelling Bee

Darren Luu and Diella Tadeo were the top two finishers in the MUSD Spelling Bee.

Three students from Menifee schools will take part in the Riverside County Spelling Bee on Tuesday, seeking an appearance in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Maryland in May.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center, 14075 Frederick St. in Moreno Valley. Twenty-nine students from school districts, private schools and charter schools throughout the county will compete.

Menifee Union School District will be represented by sixth grader Darren Luu of Hans Christensen Middle School. Romoland School District will be represented by fifth grader Chase Abrantes of Boulder Ridge Elementary School. Santa Rosa Academy will be represented by sixth grader Ben Del Rio.

Fifth grader Diella Tadeo of Oak Meadows Elementary School, sixth grader Lizbeth Centeno of Ethan A. Chase Middle School, and fourth grader Gabrielle Focht of Santa Rosa Academy are the alternates from this area.
