The parents of a 5-week-old girl who died after being taken to a local hospital in January were arrested Monday on charges that they allegedly were responsible for the infant's death, authorities said.
Gregory Brandt, 33, of Menifee was charged with homicide and Jasmine Rugga, 27 and also of Menifee was arrested for alleged child endangerment. Brandt is being held in lieu of $1 million bail and Rugga is in custody with bail set at $35,000, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.
The infant was transported to an area hospital by her parents Jan. 26 from their home in the 28000 block of Avenida Marbella. Medical personnel were unable to resuscitate the baby. Sheriff's detectives began an investigation at that time.
