Community volunteer Fisher named Citizen of Month

Longtime volunteer and supporter of community organizations Bobbi Fisher was honored by the Menifee City Council Wednesday night as Citizen of the Month.

Fisher contributes many hours working in the thrift shop that supports the Menifee Valley Community Cupboard, which supplies families in need with food. In addition, she is a board member for Arts Council Menifee, of which her late husband Chuck was a member as one of the group's talented artists.

"Bobbi is one of those volunteers who is kind of behind the scenes," Mayor Bill Zimmerman said. "She's one of those people who just do it out of the kindness of their heart."

Fisher accepted a certificate from the City Council and said a few words after the brief presentation.

"It's been an honor to work with these dedicated people with the Community Cupboard and the Arts Council," Fisher said. "They are awesome people and they do so much for the community.

"With the Arts Council ... my husband was the artist. I just volunteered quietly to get my job done because I knew nothing about art whatsoever. I am very appreciative of this honor."
