Three members of the boys and girls wrestling teams at Paloma Valley High School are headed to the state meet this weekend.
Savion Dixon will represent the boys team after finishing third in last weekend's CIF Masters meet. His finish is the highest at the Masters meet in Paloma Valley history.
Dixon, wrestling at 120 pounds, will be the eighth seed in the state meet, to be held at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield Thursday through Saturday. He will try to become the first Paloma Valley wrestler ever to place at state.
Five Paloma Valley wrestlers competed for the boys team. Israel Webster finished in the top 12 and missed qualifying for state by one match. Cole Acosta finished 10th and also missed by one match. Ricardo Perez and Brent Turnwall also completed for the Wildcats. As a team, Paloma Valley finished 21st out of 172 schools.
The Wildcats girls team sent 11 wrestlers to CIF Finals and two qualified for the state meet. The team's fifth-place finish is the best in the program's four years.
Gabriela Espinoza placed fourth -- the highest finish in program history. Jayden Von Moos placed seventh and also qualified.
