Victim in traffic fatality on Hwy 74 is Menifee woman

The County Coroner has identified the victim in a fatal traffic accident on Highway 74 in Menifee Saturday night.

Maria Rivera, 46, of Menifee was a pedestrian in the roadway on Highway 74 near Third Street at 5:24 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle and died, according to the Sheriff's Department. The driver stopped and cooperated with police. There was no evidence of substance abuse on the part of the driver.

Highway 74 was closed for about four hours during the investigation.
