One dead, one seriously injured in separate accidents

One person died and another was seriously injured in two separate traffic accidents in the Menifee area Saturday night.

The first accident occurred at 5:24 p.m., when an adult pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Highway 74 near Third Street, according to Riverside Sheriff's deputy Robyn Flores. The pedestrian died at the scene. The driver stopped and is cooperating with police. Officials do not believe this is a DUI. Highway 74 was closed at that point for about four hours.

At 5:42 p.m., a vehicle rolled off the southbound 215 Freeway near Keller Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. A single victim required extrication and was transported with serious injuries.

Neither victim was identified. Investigations are continuing.
