Temescal Canyon High teacher booked on sex charges

A Canyon Lake resident and longtime teacher and coach at Temescal Canyon High School was arrested Friday and faces four felony sex charges.

Rusell Strange, 54, is an ASB and history teacher at the Lake Elsinore school. He was arrested at noon Friday at the school, according to jail records. Strange was booked at Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta with bail set at $25,000. He has a Jan. 7 court date in Riverside to answer the charges.

The charges include unlawful sex with a minor; lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14; oral copulation with a person under 16; and sexual penetration with a person under 18.

No other information was released.
