Police are asking for the public's help in locating two suspects who fled the scene of a traffic accident that killed a Hemet man and injured his pregnant wife Monday morning.
The Coroner's Office identified Ricardo Murillo Sandoval, 22, as the man who died in the accident, which took place at 1:50 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 74 and Menifee Road. According to a Sheriff's Department news release, Sandoval was driving a Lexus sedan westbound on Highway 74 when it was struck by a Toyota truck traveling northbound on Menifee Road.
The Lexus rolled over into a ditch along Highway 74, with the occupants trapped inside. First responders rescued Sandoval's wife, who was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. She later gave birth to the baby. NBC 4 News reported that the couple were on their way to the hospital for the woman to deliver the baby when the accident occurred.
The driver of the Toyota truck and a male passenger -- seen in these photos -- fled the scene and are being sought by police. A 15-year-old female and 17-year-old female passenger in the Toyota were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call Sergeant J. Burke at 951-210-1091 or Officer B. Bryan at 951-210-1079.
