Paloma Valley High's girls volleyball team won its second-round CIF State playoff match Thursday, setting up a rematch with Ontario Christian in the regional semifinals Saturday night.
Playing on the road, the Wildcats defeated Maranatha Christian of San Diego, winning three straight sets after losing the first two. Set scores were 22-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-22, 15-6. Paloma Valley now advances to the next round against an Ontario Christian team that beat the Wildcats in four sets Nov. 3 in the CIF Southern Section finals.
Paloma Valley now has an overall record of 28-7. Ontario Christian, seeded No. 1 in the Division 3 regional, is 36-2 overall. In the teams' previous meeting, the Knights' winning set scores were 23-25, 25-16, 25-20 and 25-17.
Against Maranatha Christian, Gabby Hollins led Paloma Valley with 12 kills, followed by Channa Hart with 11, Melanie Maclin with 9 and Madison Anderson with 8. Jayde Shelton had 9 blocks and Gwendolyn Poulsen had 9 digs.
Saturday's game starts at 6 p.m. at Ontario Christian.
