The Heritage High School football team will play its CIF postseason opener tonight at 7 at Upland High School in a game rescheduled from Friday night because of a medical emergency.
Friday's game was postponed after Heritage sophomore linebacker Dylan Dickey collapsed on the field just prior to pregame warmups. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Heritage assistant coach John Phillips posted on Facebook late Friday night that Dickey "is awake and responding." No other details are available at this time.
Tonight's Division 2 playoff opener matches the 7-3 Patriots with Upland's 8-2 Highlanders. Both teams are trying to bounce back from losses last week. Heritage lost 17-10 to Rancho Verde and Upland lost 34-20 to Rancho Cucamonga.
Heritage's offense is led by quarterback Trey Goodlow, who has rushed for 565 yards and 4 touchdowns; running back Ika Tuatala, who has rushed for 1,019 yards and 12 touchdowns; and running back Kenny Teter, who has rushed for 902 yards and 12 touchdowns.
On defense, Teter has five interceptions -- including three last week against Rancho Verde. Senior defensive end Kriston Pierre has 70 solo tackles.
Upland is led by quarterback Evan Rowe, who has passed for 1,180 yards and 11 touchdowns, and running back Cameron Davis, who has rushed for 1,421 yards and 16 touchdowns.
