Two women were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of burglary and one faces additional drug charges following an incident at a Menifee supermarket, police said.
Charlee Smith, 28 (left), and Heather Harris. 26, were booked for burglary/shoplifting after members of the Sheriff's Department's burglary supression team conducted an undercover operation at the Stater Bros. market at 29061 Newport Road, cross street Menifee Road, according to a news release. Harris was found to have four outstanding warrants for burglary and was in possession of drug paraphernalia the time of her arrest. Both were booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.
The undercover operation was in response to a reported increase in thefts at local grocery stores. Police will continue to monitor reported thefts and will conduct future operations as warranted.
Anyone with additional information regarding the investigations is encouraged to contact Officer Dan Brown at the Menifee Police Department by calling 951-210-1000, or by email at PerrisStation@RiversideSheriff.org
