Defending CIF champion Rancho Verde High School remained unbeaten this season by scoring 24 straight points to break open a tight game and defeat Paloma Valley 45-14 in an Ivy League football game Saturday night.
The Mustangs (9-0) scored two early touchdowns for a 14-0 lead, but their lead was just 21-14 later in the first half after Paloma Valley touchdowns by Dereus Dortch and Mason Carvalho. That's when Rancho Verde went on its scoring spree, shutting out the Wildcats the rest of the way in the process.
Carvalho rushed for 93 yards but was intercepted three times. Dortch ran for 90 yards. The Wildcats are 0-2 in league play and will face Valley View in their final league game on Friday. They are 5-4 overall.
